You’re dealing with limited mobility, pain that makes driving difficult, or you’re fresh out of surgery and the last thing you need is to navigate traffic and waiting rooms. The reality is that getting to a clinic can be harder than the therapy itself.
In-home physical therapy removes that barrier completely. Your therapist comes to you, works with your space, and builds a treatment plan around your actual daily environment. That means you’re practicing movements you’ll actually use—getting in and out of your own shower, navigating your own stairs, moving through your own kitchen.
North Hempstead has over 2,500 physical therapy specialists, but most operate out of clinics that require you to get there. When you can’t drive or need someone to take you, every appointment becomes a logistics problem. Home therapy solves that while giving you one-on-one attention in the place where your recovery actually matters.
We’ve been providing in-home physical therapy and occupational therapy across Long Island since 2010. We accept Medicare and nearly all commercial insurances, so you’re not paying out of pocket for care you’re already covered for.
Our therapists are licensed, background-checked, and experienced with the specific needs of older adults and post-surgical patients. We’re not a rotating door of different faces each week—you get consistency, which matters when someone is working with you in your home.
North Hempstead’s aging population continues to grow, and so does the need for accessible rehabilitation services. We’ve built our reputation on showing up reliably, treating patients with respect, and actually helping people regain independence without the stress of clinic visits.
First, we verify your insurance and schedule an initial evaluation at a time that works for you. No waiting weeks for an opening—we move quickly because we know delays in starting therapy can slow your entire recovery.
During that first visit, your physical therapist assesses your mobility, strength, balance, and pain levels. They’ll ask about your goals—whether that’s walking without assistance, getting upstairs safely, or returning to activities you’ve had to stop. Then they build a treatment plan specific to your condition, whether it’s stroke rehabilitation, fall prevention, joint pain treatment, or post-surgery recovery.
Each session after that focuses on measurable progress. You’ll do therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance work, or neuromuscular re-education depending on what you need. Your therapist tracks what’s working and adjusts as you improve.
In New York, you can start physical therapy without a prescription, but after 10 visits or 30 days, you’ll need one from your doctor to continue. We handle that communication and keep everything coordinated so you’re not stuck managing paperwork between appointments.

We treat conditions that make leaving home difficult in the first place. Fall prevention and balance training are critical for North Hempstead’s older residents—falls are one of the leading causes of injury and loss of independence in adults over 65. We assess your home environment, work on proprioceptive training, and teach you how to move safely in the spaces you use every day.
Stroke rehabilitation and neurological rehabilitation require consistent, specialized care. If you’re recovering from a stroke or managing a neurological condition like Parkinson’s, our therapists use evidence-based techniques to help you regain motor function, coordination, and confidence. This isn’t generic exercise—it’s targeted treatment for how your brain and body are reconnecting.
Post-surgery rehabilitation, whether it’s joint replacement, spinal surgery, or another procedure, needs to start soon after you’re cleared by your doctor. We provide pre and post surgery rehabilitation that gets you moving safely and prevents complications like stiffness or muscle atrophy. Injury rehabilitation works the same way—we help you recover from fractures, sprains, or other trauma without reinjuring yourself.
We also offer occupational therapy for patients who need help with daily activities like dressing, bathing, or cooking. Between physical therapy and occupational therapy, we cover the full spectrum of what you need to live independently again.
Yes. Medicare Part B covers outpatient physical therapy and occupational therapy when it’s medically necessary and provided by a licensed therapist. That includes in-home therapy if you’re homebound or have difficulty leaving your residence due to illness, injury, or disability.
You’ll need a treatment plan, and your therapist will document your progress to show that the care is helping you improve. Medicare doesn’t cover therapy that’s purely maintenance-based, meaning if you’re not making measurable gains, coverage may stop. But for recovery from surgery, stroke, falls, or other acute conditions, you’re typically covered.
Most commercial insurances also cover home-based physical therapy. We verify your benefits before starting so there are no surprises about what you’ll owe.
Most sessions run 45 minutes to an hour. That’s enough time for your therapist to work through your exercises, assess your progress, and make adjustments without wearing you out.
The frequency depends on your condition and what your doctor recommends. Some patients start with three sessions per week and taper down as they improve. Others need twice-weekly visits for a longer period. Your therapist will give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation.
Between visits, you’ll have exercises to do on your own. Home therapy works best when you’re consistent between appointments, not just during them. Your therapist will make sure you understand what to do and how to do it safely when they’re not there.
Physical therapy focuses on mobility, strength, balance, and pain management. If you’re struggling to walk, climb stairs, or move without pain, that’s typically physical therapy. It’s about getting your body to function better mechanically.
Occupational therapy focuses on daily living activities. If you can walk but you can’t button your shirt, prepare a meal, or get in and out of the bathtub safely, that’s where occupational therapy comes in. It’s about regaining independence in the tasks that make up your day.
A lot of patients benefit from both, especially after a stroke or major surgery. Your physical therapist might work on getting you strong enough to stand at the counter, while your occupational therapist teaches you adaptive techniques for cooking or dressing. We coordinate between both disciplines so you’re not getting conflicting advice or redundant treatment.
In New York, you can see a physical therapist without a prescription through what’s called direct access. You’re allowed up to 10 visits or 30 days of treatment before a prescription is required to continue.
That’s helpful if you’re dealing with pain or mobility issues but haven’t seen a doctor yet, or if you’re waiting on an appointment. You can start therapy right away instead of delaying your recovery.
After that initial period, we’ll coordinate with your physician to get the prescription and keep your treatment going. Most doctors are fine signing off once they see you’re already making progress. If you don’t have a primary care doctor or specialist, we can point you toward providers who understand the value of ongoing therapy and won’t make you jump through hoops.
Medicare defines homebound as needing considerable effort to leave your home, or if leaving requires supportive devices like a walker, cane, wheelchair, or another person’s help. It doesn’t mean you can never leave—it means leaving is difficult and happens infrequently.
If you’re recovering from surgery and can’t drive, if you have severe arthritis that makes getting in and out of a car painful, or if you’re at risk of falling when you’re out in public, you likely qualify. Even if you can technically leave your home, if doing so is exhausting or risky, in-home therapy is often the better option.
We assess your situation during the initial call. If you’re on the fence about whether you qualify, we’ll walk you through it and let you know honestly whether home therapy makes sense or if you’d be better served at a clinic. Our goal is to get you the right care, not to force you into a service that doesn’t fit.
We serve all of North Hempstead and surrounding areas across Long Island. If you’re in the town limits or nearby communities, we can get to you. Our therapists are familiar with the area and plan their routes to minimize travel time so you’re not waiting around for late appointments.
North Hempstead has a large population of older adults and a growing demand for home-based care. We’ve been operating here since 2010, so we understand the local healthcare landscape, the hospitals patients are discharged from, and the types of conditions we see most often in this community.
If you’re unsure whether we cover your specific address, call us. We’ll confirm coverage and get you scheduled quickly. The goal is to remove barriers, not create them.
