Getting to a clinic three times a week sounds simple until you’re the one who can’t drive after surgery. Or you’re managing chronic pain that makes sitting in a car unbearable. Or you’re caring for someone whose balance issues make every outing risky.
In-home physical therapy removes that barrier completely. Your therapist comes to you, works with you in the space where you actually live, and builds a treatment plan around your real daily movements—not generic exercises on a clinic table.
You’ll work on fall prevention and balance training using your own stairs, hallways, and furniture. Gait training happens on the surfaces you walk every day. Strength exercises fit into your routine instead of disrupting it. And you’re not rushing through appointments or sitting in waiting rooms when you’d rather be recovering.
Most patients see measurable improvements in mobility, pain levels, and confidence within the first few weeks. The goal isn’t just to get you moving again—it’s to help you stay active and independent in your own home for as long as possible.
We’ve been providing in-home physical therapy and occupational therapy across Long Island for over 14 years. We’re licensed, Medicare-certified, and we accept nearly all commercial insurance plans.
Our therapists work throughout North Amityville and surrounding communities, treating patients recovering from surgery, managing chronic conditions, or working to prevent falls and maintain mobility. We’ve built our reputation on showing up consistently, communicating clearly, and treating every patient like family—not a number on a schedule.
North Amityville has a growing senior population, and many residents face the same challenge: needing quality rehabilitation but struggling with transportation or mobility limitations. We’ve structured our entire service model around solving that problem, so you can access the same level of care you’d get in a clinic without ever leaving home.
First, we verify your insurance coverage and Medicare eligibility so there are no surprises. Most of our patients have little to no out-of-pocket cost, and we handle the paperwork.
Your initial visit starts with a full evaluation. Your physical therapist assesses your mobility, strength, balance, pain levels, and daily challenges. They’ll ask about your goals—whether that’s walking without assistance, recovering from a stroke, managing joint pain, or preventing another fall. Then they’ll create a personalized treatment plan based on what you need and what’s realistic for your situation.
Sessions typically happen two to three times per week, depending on your condition and doctor’s recommendations. Each visit lasts about an hour. Your therapist brings any necessary equipment and works with you using your home environment—your stairs, your bathroom setup, your furniture.
You’ll do therapeutic exercises, resistance and strength training, neuromuscular re-education, and functional movement work. If you’re recovering from surgery or injury, we’ll guide you through each phase of rehabilitation safely. If you’re dealing with neurological issues or stroke recovery, we’ll focus on rebuilding coordination and independence.
Progress gets tracked and communicated. You’ll know what’s improving, what needs more work, and when you’re ready to reduce frequency or transition to a maintenance plan. No guessing.
Ready to get started?
We treat a wide range of conditions, all in the comfort of your North Amityville home. That includes pre and post surgery rehabilitation for joint replacements, fractures, and other procedures. Injury rehabilitation for sprains, strains, and musculoskeletal issues. Stroke rehabilitation and neurological rehabilitation for patients working to regain function after a stroke, Parkinson’s, or other neurological conditions.
Fall prevention is a major focus here. With Long Island’s aging population, falls are one of the leading causes of injury and loss of independence. We provide balance and proprioceptive training, gait training, and strengthening exercises specifically designed to reduce fall risk in your actual living space.
We also offer occupational therapy for patients who need help with daily activities like dressing, bathing, cooking, or managing household tasks after an illness or surgery. Both services can be coordinated under one provider, which makes communication and care planning much simpler.
Joint pain treatment, therapeutic exercise, and resistance training are part of nearly every plan. We don’t just work on the injury—we work on the movement patterns and strength deficits that contributed to it. That’s how you get lasting results instead of temporary relief.
Yes. Medicare Part B covers in-home physical therapy when it’s deemed medically necessary by your doctor. That typically means you’re homebound or have significant difficulty leaving your home due to illness, injury, surgery, or chronic condition.
You’ll need a referral or prescription from your physician, but we help coordinate that. Medicare generally covers 80% of the approved amount after you’ve met your deductible, and you’re responsible for the remaining 20%. If you have a supplemental plan (Medigap), it often covers that 20%.
We’re Medicare-certified and handle all the billing and documentation directly. Most of our North Amityville patients have Medicare, and we’ve streamlined the process so it’s as simple as possible. We’ll verify your coverage before starting treatment and let you know exactly what to expect cost-wise.
It depends entirely on your condition and goals. Post-surgery rehabilitation might last six to eight weeks. Stroke recovery or neurological rehabilitation could take several months. Chronic pain management or fall prevention programs vary based on progress and individual needs.
Most patients start with two to three sessions per week. As you improve, frequency often decreases to once a week, then transitions to a maintenance plan or discharge when you’ve met your goals. Your therapist will reassess regularly and adjust the plan as needed.
Insurance coverage also plays a role. Medicare and most commercial plans approve a certain number of visits based on medical necessity, and we work within those guidelines while advocating for what you actually need. The goal is always to get you to a point where you can maintain your progress independently—not to keep you in therapy longer than necessary.
Physical therapy focuses on mobility, strength, balance, and pain management. You’re working on walking better, moving without pain, preventing falls, and rebuilding strength after surgery or injury. It’s about gross motor skills and physical function.
Occupational therapy focuses on daily living activities. That’s getting dressed, bathing, cooking, managing household tasks, and fine motor skills like buttoning shirts or using utensils. It’s about independence in the activities that make up your day-to-day life.
Many patients benefit from both, especially after a stroke, major surgery, or significant illness. We offer both services and can coordinate them under one treatment plan. Your therapist will evaluate what you need during the initial visit and recommend the right combination. Sometimes you start with physical therapy to regain mobility, then add occupational therapy to work on functional tasks. Other times, you need both from the start.
Your therapist brings everything needed for most treatments—resistance bands, weights, balance tools, and other portable equipment. You don’t need to buy a home gym or special gear before we start.
That said, we’ll use what you already have whenever possible. Your stairs, chairs, countertops, and even your bed become part of the therapy. That’s actually an advantage of in-home treatment—you’re training in the real environment where you need to function, not a sterile clinic.
If there’s something specific that would help your long-term progress—like a grab bar for your bathroom or a specific assistive device—we’ll recommend it and explain why. But those are suggestions to improve safety and independence, not requirements to start therapy. Most patients don’t need to purchase anything beyond what their therapist brings and what they already own.
Medicare defines homebound as having difficulty leaving your home without considerable effort or assistance. That could mean you need a walker, wheelchair, or another person to help you. It could mean leaving home causes significant pain or exhaustion. It could mean you have medical restrictions from your doctor limiting your activity after surgery.
You don’t have to be completely bedridden. Many homebound patients can leave for medical appointments or occasional short trips, but it requires significant effort or help. If getting to a clinic two or three times a week feels unsafe, exhausting, or unrealistic given your current condition, you likely qualify.
We’ll evaluate your situation during the initial consultation and work with your doctor to document medical necessity. If you’re unsure whether you qualify, just call us. We’ve worked with hundreds of North Amityville patients in similar situations and can give you a straight answer based on your specific circumstances. If in-home therapy isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you that too.
We serve North Amityville and the surrounding Long Island communities, including Amityville, Copiague, Lindenhurst, West Babylon, Wyandanch, and nearby areas. Our therapists are familiar with the region and schedule routes to serve patients efficiently without long wait times.
If you’re outside North Amityville but still on Long Island, there’s a good chance we can reach you. We’ve been operating across the island since 2010 and have multiple therapists covering different zones. Distance isn’t usually the issue—it’s more about whether we have availability in your area at the times that work for your schedule.
The easiest way to find out is to call and give us your address. We’ll let you know immediately if we can serve your location and how quickly we can get someone to you for an initial evaluation. Most new patients in North Amityville can be scheduled within a few days, sometimes sooner if there’s an urgent need post-surgery or after a fall.
