What Changes When You Can Move Without Fear

You stop planning your day around what you can’t do. Walking to the mailbox doesn’t feel like a risk anymore. Getting up from a chair happens without that split-second hesitation.

That’s what physical therapy does when it’s done right. It rebuilds strength where you’ve lost it, retrains balance so you feel steady again, and gives you back the confidence to move through your home without second-guessing every step.

Whether you’re recovering from surgery, managing joint pain, or just noticing that things don’t work the way they used to, therapy helps you get back to the life you want. Not someday—starting now. And if leaving the house is hard, we bring everything to you.

Trusted Physical Therapist Near Kings Point

We've Been Doing This Since 2010

We’ve been serving Long Island for over a decade, working with patients across Nassau County who need real help, not just a treatment plan on paper. We’re licensed, Medicare-approved, and we show up ready to work.

Kings Point has one of the fastest-growing senior populations in Nassau County, and we’ve built our practice around what that community actually needs: in-home care, fall prevention, stroke rehabilitation, and post-surgical recovery. You’re not a number here. You’re someone we’re helping get back to normal.

We don’t outsource your care or rotate therapists every visit. You work with professionals who know your name, your goals, and what’s actually getting better.

How In-Home Physical Therapy Works

Here's What Happens from Start to Finish

First, we talk. You tell us what’s going on, what hurts, what you’re trying to get back to doing. We do an evaluation right in your home—checking your strength, balance, range of motion, and how you’re moving through your actual space.

Then we build a plan. Not a generic one. A plan based on your body, your goals, and what’s realistic for where you’re starting. That might include gait training if walking feels unsteady, therapeutic exercise to rebuild strength, or neuromuscular re-education if your body’s forgotten how to move the right way after an injury or stroke.

Every session after that is hands-on. We’re working with you, adjusting as you improve, and making sure you understand what you’re doing and why. Most people see progress within the first few weeks—better balance, less pain, more confidence. And because we’re Medicare-approved, most of this is covered if you qualify.

About Medcare Therapy Services

Physical Therapy Programs We Offer

What's Included in Your Care Plan

We offer fall prevention therapy, which is critical in Kings Point where one in four adults over 65 falls each year. That includes balance and proprioceptive training, strength work, and teaching you how to move safely in your own environment.

If you’re recovering from a stroke, we provide neurological rehabilitation that focuses on rebuilding coordination, retraining movement patterns, and improving mobility. For joint pain or post-surgery recovery, we use a combination of manual therapy, resistance and strength training, and therapeutic exercise to get you moving again without compensation or long-term damage.

We also handle occupational rehabilitation for people getting back to work or daily tasks, injury rehabilitation for acute issues, and pre- and post-surgery rehab to make sure your body is ready before a procedure and recovers fully after. Everything is done in your home, on your schedule, with equipment we bring to you.

Does Medicare cover in-home physical therapy in Kings Point?

Yes. Medicare Part B covers physical therapy services when they’re medically necessary and provided by a licensed therapist like us at Medcare. That includes in-home visits if your doctor orders it and you meet the homebound criteria, which generally means leaving your home takes considerable effort or assistance.

You’ll typically be responsible for 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after you’ve met your Part B deductible. If you have a Medicare Supplement plan, that often covers the remaining balance. We handle the billing and work directly with Medicare, so you’re not stuck figuring it out on your own.

If you’re not sure whether you qualify or what your plan covers, we can walk you through it during your first call. We’ve been doing this since 2010 and know how to navigate the system so you get the care you need without surprise bills.

Fall prevention starts with figuring out why you’re unsteady. That could be weak legs, poor balance, vision issues, medication side effects, or just an environment that’s set up wrong. We assess all of it during your evaluation.

From there, we build a program that usually includes balance and proprioceptive training—exercises that retrain your body’s sense of where it is in space. We also do gait training to improve how you walk, strength work to stabilize your legs and core, and functional movement drills that mimic what you actually do at home, like getting out of bed or navigating stairs.

We also look at your home setup. Are there rugs that slide? Is the lighting bad? Are you reaching for things that throw you off balance? Small changes make a big difference, and we help you spot them. Research shows that physical therapy reduces fall risk by 25%, and in Kings Point’s aging population, that’s not just a statistic—it’s independence.

Most people notice improvement within two to four weeks if they’re consistent with their sessions and doing the exercises we give them between visits. That might mean less pain, better balance, or just feeling more confident moving around.

Full recovery depends on what you’re treating. A sprained ankle might take six weeks. Stroke rehabilitation could take months. Post-surgical recovery varies based on the procedure and how your body responds. We give you realistic timelines upfront based on your specific situation, and we adjust the plan as you progress.

The key is consistency. If you’re only doing therapy during our visits and skipping everything in between, it’s going to take longer. But if you’re putting in the work, you’ll see it pay off. We track your progress every session so you know exactly where you’re improving and what still needs attention.

Yes. Stroke rehabilitation is one of the core services we provide, and doing it at home has real advantages. You’re retraining your body in the environment where you actually live, which makes the skills more practical and easier to carry over into daily life.

We focus on neurological rehabilitation that targets the specific impairments stroke causes—weakness on one side, trouble with coordination, difficulty walking, or problems with fine motor tasks. That includes neuromuscular re-education to help your brain reconnect with muscles that aren’t firing right, gait training to improve walking patterns, and therapeutic exercise to rebuild strength and endurance.

Every stroke is different, so every plan is different. Some people need help relearning how to stand up safely. Others are working on using their arm again or improving their balance so they can move around the house independently. We meet you where you are and push you toward where you want to be, one session at a time.

Physical therapy focuses on movement—strength, balance, mobility, pain relief. If you’re having trouble walking, getting out of a chair, or moving without pain, that’s physical therapy. We work on the mechanics of how your body moves and functions.

Occupational therapy focuses on daily tasks—getting dressed, cooking, bathing, using your hands for fine motor activities. If you’re struggling with the practical side of living independently, that’s where occupational therapy comes in. It’s about adapting your environment and retraining skills so you can do what you need to do.

We offer both at Medcare, and a lot of times people benefit from a combination. For example, after a stroke, you might need physical therapy to improve your walking and balance, and occupational therapy to help you use your affected arm for everyday tasks. We coordinate everything so your care makes sense and you’re not repeating the same work twice.

It depends on your insurance. Medicare requires a doctor’s order before we can start treatment, but you don’t need a referral to call us and talk through your situation. We can tell you what’s required and help coordinate with your doctor if needed.

If you have private insurance, some plans allow direct access to physical therapy without a referral, but others require one. We recommend checking your plan or calling us—we deal with this every day and can usually tell you in two minutes what your insurance needs.

Once we have the necessary paperwork, we schedule your evaluation and get started. The goal is to make this as simple as possible so you’re focusing on getting better, not fighting with forms and phone calls. We’ve been serving Long Island since 2010, and we know how to move things along quickly.
